06. Tips & Tricks - Site Speed

Increase Speed of your Site

If you want your site to display really fast you need get a good hosting.
This is the first step in having a fast site, for my demo on themeforest I use A Small Orange.

Optimize Images

Always compress/optimize your jpeg images before uploading them to the server. Large images should be compressed at around 90% image quality and you should also try to limit the use of lossless image files ( uncompressed pngs ).

Caching Plugins

I can't recommend enough the necessity go good caching. If you use a managed hosting like WPEngine you don't need this, but for the other hostings you need to cache your content.

I recommend W3 Total Cache in conjunction with Cloud Flare or Max CDN.
It's a great and easy to use plugin, and with only a bit of work you can double your site's speed.

# Note1: don't minify the CSS files! You can enabled the minified version of css/js file in "Theme Options Panel -> General -> Performance"

# Note2: eventually you can enable the Page Caching but with a little workaround for mobile/tablet user agents otherwise don't enable the page caching because this theme use a Mobile Detect PHP Library. See the Discussion
